How to get to the Convention information: 

It appears I have not been providing enough info on how to get to Ventura. Hope this helps

By PLANE: There is no airport in Ventura, but if you like puddle jumpers you can fly directly to Oxnard, CA from LAX which is only 10 miles from the fairgrounds. You can fly into Santa Barbara as the next closest airport. Then LAX and Burbank in the Los Angeles area. They will have the cheapest flights with the most options but they are a little further to drive (about 65 miles to Ventura). Just stay away from rush hours (6:30-9AM & 3:30-7PM) and the drive is not bad.

There are numerous shuttles which can get you from Santa Barbara, LAX & Burbank airports to Ventura. The local favorite is Roadrunner Shuttle www.rrshuttle.com and will take you directly to whatever address you desire for a fixed rate regardless of traffic delays. Contact them for a reservation as you can't hail these shuttles at the airport. They can pick you up at your hotel and return you to the airport terminal you need, also by appointment. Tell them your flight number and times and they will tell you when they must pick you up to get to the airport on time. I’d be leery of taking a taxi that far, but you could do it and it might make the driver very happy!$!$

By TRAIN: We have the luxury of having the Ventura AmTrak station at the fairgrounds. I know several people plan to arrive that way. There is a local public shuttle www.scat.org (check Route 12) every 45 minutes that can take you directly to the hotel from the corner near the station and back all day, so theoretically no car is needed. Remember that the rock concert at the fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday will result in extreme congestion around the fairgrounds and AmTrak station area, so shuttle reliability may be questionable June 21/22.

By BUS: NEW! The Greyhound stop in Ventura was close permanently on March 7, 2008. The nearest station is now in Oxnard, eight miles away. This is still a viable option, only a short taxi ride from the fairgrounds. Contact Greyhound info.

By CAR: Of course this is California so getting there by car is the primary method. The address of the fairgrounds office is 10 W. Harbor Blvd, Ventura, CA 93001 for you online mapper-types. Some directions are on the Location web page. Ventura is about 60 miles West of downtown Los Angeles, and about 30 mile East of Santa Barbara along the 101 Freeway, on the Pacific Ocean. If you are coming from the Willow Springs Corvair Time Trial in the Mojave Desert you can take a route that will not take you through Los Angeles to get to Ventura.

PARKING: We have arranged plenty of free parking at the fairgrounds all week. Just be sure to use only Gate 3 all week. Gate 3 is a paved entrance that goes through the “dirt lot” used for RVs, campers, and trailers into our parking lot. RVs should not park in the paved parking lot except temporarily to unload a car from a trailer. The paved lot will also house the Swap Meet spaces.
