Event Details
Roebling Road Time Trials On Sunday, July 12, the Northeast Corvair Council (NECC) and Southeast Corvair Council(SECC) are teaming
up to bring you time trials at Roebling Road Raceway in Bloomingdale, Georgia. Scheduled in tandem with
the nearby 2009 CORSA Convention, this event promises to bring out a large field of the country's best
track Corvairs. But you don't need to have a Corvair to participate in this event. All makes and models
of cars are welcome, subject to our usual tech inspection rules. Roebling Road Raceway originally opened
in 1959 and is now one of the Southeast's most challenging and fastest tracks. The 2.02-mile asphalt road
course consisting of nine turns is located just 20 miles from beautiful historic downtown Savannah,
					Georgia.
A favorite track of many, its deceptively simple design allows for multiple lines and techniques.
Facilities include a full service concession stand, covered technical inspection area with scale,
Phillips 66 Race and Cam 2 fuel, men's and women's hot showers, etc. Registration will be open for this event as soon as contracts and arrangements are finalized. Updates
will be posted on the NECC website at: www.neccmotorsports.org.
For additional information, contact Al Lacki at redbat01(at)verizon(dot)net or Brian O'Neill at
					bmoneill(at)juno(dot)com.

Hosted by the NECC & SECC.

				Econo Run
Nature Coast Corvair club will be hosting this year’s economy run.
Nature Coast also did the economy run for the 2000 convention in Daytona. Nature Coast
with the help of Larry Schuml and Jeff Kent, locals to the Jacksonville area, have set
the course for this year’s run. The route will take you out of the hotel across a high
bridge and onto I95 North almost to the Georgia border. You will be traveling lots of
scenic back roads and highways eventually making your way over to the coast and eventually
Amelia Island. The ride is very scenic with some upgrade, some freeway, small town squares
and open flat road. Your final check point before fill up will be in a parking lot where
there is a ferry to take you across the river. The ferry can hold up to 40 cars at one
time. Once you have reached the other side and are unloaded off the ferry, you will head
just down the street for your gas fill up. After you are done the choice is yours as to
whether you want to head on to the beach and a local State Park, or you can retrace your
steps by using the ferry to head back towards the hotel. Directions back to the hotel will
be handed out after your fill up. Please plan on participating in this event. It will be
a memorable scenic trip you will not soon forget.

				Test & Tune
This is the first time this event has ever happened at a convention.
The purpose of this is to allow anyone who wishes to go out to the autocross site the day
before the actual autocross. You will be allowed to practice and see how your car will
handle the pavement and the curves. This WILL NOT be the actual course that will be run
on the day of the convention, but you will get a taste of what to expect. Be prepared to
have lots of fun and as many runs as your heart desires. Participants trailering their
cars to the location will be allowed to leave them overnight as the site is secured and
				locked down at night.

The CORSA National Convention autocross will be held on Thursday, 16 July
on the First Coast Technical Center (FCTC) training course. The FCTC is used to train many
of the county and state fire and rescue personnel. The driving course for training defense
and performance driving has several configurations which make it very adaptable. There is
one very long straight, a medium straight, a serpentine source, a skid pad, and several
adjoining roads. The Central Florida Corvairs and the Southeast Corvair Council have been
using this facility for the past several years and have set up several different
configurations in seeing what might be the best for the National Convention. We will use
most all of the roads to provide a course that is nearly a mile long that will include a
slalom, couple switchbacks, a crossover where you choose the fastest way through, lane
changers, and the very challenging skid pad. There will be something for everyone from the
exactness of a 5 pylon slalom, to a long sweeping curve, to the finesse required to negotiate
the skid pad. Warren LeVeque ran this course in Nov 08 and had some very favorable comments
which he posted on Virtual Vairs. The other advantage to this facility is the ability to set
up the course where it is very easy to follow. By position directional cones and gates in a
way where the only way to get through the course is to go through the gate (otherwise you run
over a cone), we have nearly eliminated any off course runs. This way you can concentrate on
how to go quicker and not have to worry about how to get through the course. Depending on the
registration/number of cars in the each of the classes, we probably will run the Street Stock
and Improved Stocks in the morning and the rest of the classes in the afternoon. So tune up
those Corvairs now and get ready to have a great time at the CORSA National Autocross.
